As we move into spring I have some fun events to look forward to, both at home in San Francisco and at FotoFest in Houston.
Cactus
“When the Moment Presents Itself” is an exhibition celebrating instant photography in its various forms. I will be showing a piece from my archives, “Cactus,” a Polaroid Type 55 negative reproduced on a gold toned printing out paper, both beautiful processes which have since been lost to time.
The show is being held to coincide with PolaCon Bay Area 2026, an annual event bringing together instant film enthusiasts from around the globe, and with the cooperation of the SF Instant Photowalk, the longest running instant photography walk in the world.
This is the inaugural exhibition at a new and exciting gallery space in the Mission District, Lee’s Laundrette.

Once again I’m thrilled to be able to donate a piece to this year’s FotoFest Fine Print Auction as well as fly out for the weekend to visit with the amazing photo community and see what new and exciting photography will be on display.
The piece I’ve donated is from my Going in Circles series, a three-dimensional photo collage incorporating various toned silver gelatin paper, floated in a custom made frame.

Back here in the bay is ART KALA 2026, a benefit auction for the Kala Art Institute in Berkeley. The auction supports Kala’s arts education programs, artist residencies, and exhibitions.
I’ve donated one of my photogravure prints, “Grasses, Lyon.” in support of this wonderful hub of the Bay Area arts community.
